I came up with this idea because my students were really struggling with the place value blocks. They just couldn't get it, so I decided each student would make their own place value folder that they could use in class & take home too.
File Folder Instructions:
Fold the bottom of the file folder up about 3 inches* Cut along the crease up to the fold* Cut two more times on the left, & 2 more on the right(you will have six flaps)* Label each flap* Hold down three alternating flaps & tape down with clear packaging tape* Then, tape the three flaps that are left* Now you have 6 pockets.
Number Cards:
Fold the index cards horizontaly* Have students number the top of the cards 0-9 with a red marker* Have them number the bottom with zeros using a black marker.
Pockets for Number Cards:
To make my library pockets to hold the number cards, I use a mailing envelope. Seal the envelope, fold in half, & cut. You now have 2 pockets!
Great folder for place value & to teach the "value" of each digit!
